Nutrition

Providing appropriate nutrition will help to keep your pet healthy and may also help to treat disease. The Small Animal Clinical Nutrition Service consists of a team of a board-certified nutritionist, residents, interns and highly trained technicians who aid in the nutritional management of patients by evaluating patients directly and through consultation with other specialty services, outside veterinarians, and pet owners.

Our goal is to provide the best possible care for our veterinary patients by providing individualized nutrition and a feeding strategy that matches the needs of your pet. We understand that problems with your pet can be distressing and share your concerns. Please feel free to ask questions.

Our goal is to help you and your primary care veterinarian formulate the best veterinary nutritional plan and we want you to feel comfortable with our recommendations. Most of our cases are referred to us by other veterinarians. We value our relationships with these veterinarians and make every effort to include them in the communication process.

Follow-up examinations and phone reports also help us and your primary care veterinarian to monitor your pet’s progress and deal with any complications. Do not hesitate to call as soon as possible should problems develop after you return home or if you have any additional questions.
